Born in Philadelphia, PA, he attended Temple University and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After world traveling through 20 countries, experiencing many cultures, he settled in Oregon, learning skills of homestead development, and home building. He founded and grew a construction company consisting of selling real estate, developing land, and building single family housing developments.
